About Us

TollFreeTalk.com is a free guide to area codes, toll-free numbers and phone services in the United States and Canada. I’m Dileep Kumar Hakwani, the founder of the site.

Why This Site Exists

Most people look up an area code for a simple reason. A number they do not recognize just called, and they want to know where it is from and whether it is safe to call back. Too often the answer is buried under ads and filler. This site is meant to give a clear answer quickly, and then offer more detail for anyone who wants it.

What You Will Find Here

  • Area code guides. Each guide covers where the area code is, the main cities, the time zone, the history of the code and how to deal with unknown calls from it.
  • Free tools. The area code lookup and the other phone number tools run in your browser and need no sign-up.
  • Toll-free guides. Plain explanations of how 800, 833 and other toll-free numbers work.
  • Service reviews. Reviews of toll-free and virtual phone number providers for small businesses.

How We Work

  • Area code facts, such as locations and dates, are taken from public sources, including the FCC and published numbering plan records.
  • Guides are written in plain English and updated when area codes change.
  • We do not claim to know who owns a phone number. An area code only shows where a number was issued.
  • When we learn about a mistake, we correct it.

How the Site Is Funded

The site is free to use. Some pages contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy a service through them, at no extra cost to you. This is explained in our Affiliate Disclosure.

TollFreeTalk.com is independent. It is not affiliated with any phone company or government agency.
