Grasshopper vs OpenPhone is one of the most common comparisons for small business phone service. Both add a business number to the phone you already use. They differ in price structure, team features and how well users rate them. Note that OpenPhone changed its name to Quo in September 2025, so OpenPhone vs Grasshopper and Quo vs Grasshopper are the same question.

Pricing

Grasshopper charges per plan, not per person. Public listings show True Solo at $14 per month, Solo Plus at $25 and Small Business at $55 on annual billing. The top two plans allow unlimited users, so a team of five on Small Business pays the same $55. Extra numbers are $9 per month each.

Quo charges per user: Starter $15, Business $23 and Scale $35 per user per month on annual billing, or $19, $33 and $47 month to month. Each user gets a number, and extra numbers are $5 per month.

What this means in practice:

  • One person: the two cost about the same.
  • Five people: Grasshopper Small Business is about $55 per month. Quo Starter is about $75 per month, and Quo Business is about $115.
  • Fees: both add telecom taxes, and both need paid carrier registration before you can text US numbers.

Grasshopper is cheaper for a team on paper. Quo gives each person their own number and far more features for the extra money.

Features

Both services include a business number, apps for mobile and desktop, voicemail transcription, call forwarding and free number porting.

Where Quo is stronger:

  • Shared numbers and a shared inbox, so teammates see the same calls and texts
  • Integrations with Slack, Zapier, HubSpot and Salesforce
  • AI call summaries and transcripts on the Business plan
  • Phone menus and ring groups built for teams
  • An API on every plan

Where Grasshopper is stronger:

  • Unlimited users on the higher plans at a flat price
  • Virtual fax included
  • A free trial that does not need a credit card
  • A very simple setup with few settings to learn

Support and Refunds

Grasshopper advertises phone and chat support around the clock. Quo offers email on all plans, live chat from the Business plan and phone support only on Scale.

Neither is generous with refunds. Quo states that payments are non-refundable. Grasshopper reviewers often describe trouble cancelling and getting charges reversed. With either one, start on monthly billing.

What Users Say

Quo is rated much higher: 4.7 on G2 from about 3,400 reviews, against 3.9 for Grasshopper from about 160. On Trustpilot the gap is 4.1 against 2.9.

Grasshopper’s negative reviews focus on cancellation and slow support. Quo’s negative reviews focus on dropped calls, slow carrier registration and support that is hard to reach on lower plans.

Which Should You Choose?

FAQs

Is OpenPhone the same as Quo?

Yes. OpenPhone was renamed Quo on September 23, 2025. Plans and accounts stayed the same.

Is Grasshopper cheaper than OpenPhone?

Which is better for texting?

Quo. Its shared inbox, auto-replies and integrations are built around texting.

Can I move my number from Grasshopper to Quo?

Yes. Both support number porting, and Quo does not charge for porting in.

Final Verdict
